I checked out that utility that was provided in Ghost Enterprise v7.0. It did NOT need to have an adminstrator login it needed rights by the user to write in the directory the software was loaded and the utility would be placed in the Login Script. However, I bypassed the software installer and manually setup the software. It worked fine but, saw no need to use it and we havene't used it since.

Perhaps so that he can detect who is not running an AUTHORIZED Ghost image desktop.
However, my guess is that it is looking for a fingerprint file which can be disabled by using a switch.

quote: Now, you stated yourself that the utility requires domain admin rights, so why do you try to run it under a regular user account?
Security risk, im afraid, it would require a domain admin logon and if this was automated, it would mean having the admin pasword, if I was to do a autoadmin logon.
Ideally I would like it added as a service, that a ordinary user can run once a week. I know it was a long shot but just wanted to check incase anyone knew a way around it. It was more a application question then a kix, but thanks for you replies.

Create a package using KiXCrypt.. That should do it.

If you have local admin rights to the remote computers you might incorporate (psexec from sysinternals) in to your kix script to run your executable remotely (Read The Manual [RTM])on the remote machine. I have had a lot of success with this since i am not a "DOMAIN ADMIN". I have had to figure ways to complete my job without those permissions and still stay with in the Security Guidelines. I hope this helps
