Howard,

This UDF

Is there a reason you did not add the MAC address?

I'd like to get that back as well.

MSN still down?

I didn't add it as I didn't need it. [Razz]

Also the basic ipconfig does not display it.

Not a need to have, but a NICE to have. Makes it quicker to lookup and disable switch for rouge systems.

If you get time or get bored please think about including it. [Big Grin]

Laptops can use 1 to 3 or more nics to logon with.

You would have to query each one and then you STILL don't know which one is the nic the laptop used to logon with.

See! You need to simplify your hardware configuration then you would not have these problems. [Big Grin]

Send me the results from an "ipconfig /all > text.txt" from one of these notorious computers and I will look into what I can do.

Actually speaking with Lonk.

It may be that how I perceive the @address works is wrong.

I assumed that since you can use @IPADDRESS0,1,2,3 that the @ADDRESS would coincide with 0,1,2,3 but the manual does not say that.

So I guess I need to do some further testing myself. It may be that the @ADDRESS is ALWAYS the correct live nic, but that @IPADDRESS could be wrong if you selected the wrong one.

Testing to do....

@ADDRESS should be the MAC addresss of @IPADDRESS0

Otherwise, you can do a WMI query along the lines of 'SELECT MACAddress FROM Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration WHERE '192.168.1.1' IN IPAddress'.

yep, that can be done but the problem was that WMI is not an option.
now, if @address would be the MAC of ipaddy0, doesn't that mean that it's not always the mac of adapter that is currently used?
