Please read the FAQ Forum under Registry Tools to track down the necessary registry changes.

See also Microsoft KB312968 at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312968

Finally, these settings should be implemented via LPO/GPO and not via registry hacks.

anna,

GPO is part of - 2154: Implementing and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Directory Services

About the MMC Extension Snap-in Model

Otherwise, you can dig into http://support.microsoft.com and/or http://msdn.microsoft.com for assistance with GPO.

HTH,

Kent

[Confused] In most Western European countries, the first name Anna would be associated with a female.

It is also a former monetary unit of Burma, India, and Pakistan equal to 1/16 rupee and a coin representing one anna.

However, I think that's completely off-topic and should be dealt with via PM.

How about POLEDIT? Policy Editor on an NT Domain should be similar. You just need to distribute the .POL in the NETLOGON share.

Otherwise, you may want to DCPROMO your server(s) to get AD rolling.

You can definitely go with the registry keys/values listed in the KB article. However, the GPO/LPO is the better option in the long run.

Those registry values in KB article, don't actually toggle off the recently edited file list. It clears the files. Any suggestions guys?

Anna,

YMMV as I am using Office 2003..

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\9040110900063D11C8EF10054038389C\Usage

WORDFiles

0x2F4600D2 >> Used REG_DWORD
0x2F4600D3 >> Cleared REG_DWORD

This was done on a Trace from RegShot - Registry Tools

HTH,

Kent

in Office 2002 setting the "cFilesMRU_32_4" value to "0" does the trick.

quote:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options\vpref]
"cFilesMRU_32_4"=dword:00000000

oh, btw.
hiding the MRU is not same as disabling it [Razz]

experienced that roaming profiles when the files in recent files did cause my profile fail to load [Razz]
