Hi,

I recently installed the Software Update Service from Microsoft. It ran the IIS Lock Down Tool and now we can't browse to any other sites on that server. We've ran it again to undo all the changes but this did bugger all. Does any body know if there is a way to run it to completely remove the lockdowns?

Many Thanks

Julian

Julian,

You probably don't need to remove the restrictions..

Doing some Googling, we find - http://www.windowswebsolutions.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=25577

Look at Figure 1 for example, and they show what is "going on behind the scenes."

You are probably going to have to dig, like I did using Google..

Maybe you will have to go into -

http://support.microsoft.com
http://msdn.microsoft.com

As this support issue really has nothing to do with KiXtart, but how to run your web server.

Kent

Thanks very Much. I know its not KiX related but just find this to be one of the most helpful forums on the net and not just for KiX, generally everything. [Smile]

Thanks

You should have done a complete metabase backup before running something as intrusive as the IISLockdown Tool. I have also found the IISLockdown Tool not to be particular friendly in locking down an IIS server unless you run it on a mint installation and do your customizations afterwards.
