Shawn,

Not sure the script on the board is 100% functional or not. I sent you a version in email that should work. You just need to plug in your own values.

Does this work on NT4 computers without a reboot? I want to write a script to do this but have not had the time. I already have a script for creating the account in AD in the right OU. I just need to run netdom or whatever remotely.

Kelly,

I just went through this for Windows NT. This script wont run on NT4 because it uses NETDOM 2.0 (for NT5) ... the last version of NETDOM for Windows NT is NETDOM 1.8.

NETDOM 1.8 will join an NT4 workstation into AD but only into the default container for computers. It lacks the /OU: switch that is avaliable in 2.0.

So what I added for our environment was after the NETDOM command, write two ADSI calls in Kix to bind to the rootDSE, then MOVE the computer from the default OU to the destination OU. It works.

I also found that you dont need to do a reboot after the join to do this.

Are you running netdom remotely thru RCMD or a WMI process? I am looking for a small example to steal. [Wink]

No, we are running the AD flip package on the NT4 workstation itself. Pretty sure there are some threads on starting remote processes ... have you been able to find NETDOM 1.8 anywhere ? If not, can get you a copy.
