man-over-board: dsclient and disabling reboot

guys, at the end of my very short packaging rope to do with the MS ADSI dsclient.exe install package. When this package runs (either interactivly or quitely) it wants to perform a reboot and I am desperately trying to stop it from doing that.
The package is here:
Active Directory Client Extensions for NT Workstation 4.0
It runs silently like this:
DSCLIENT /Q
if one runs this:
DSCLIENT /Q /N
it launches into some internalized setup proggie and give more of a help on what is going on. it wont install the package so no worries.
So I then extracted the contents of the package like this:
dsclient /c /t:c:\dsclient
[just say yeah to the eula and it will extract files to a directory ... it WONT install it.]
When extracted, there is a proggy called setup.exe and an INF called DSCLIENT.INF ... I'm thinking that there must be a setting in the INF or a switch on the wrapper or for setup.exe itself (setup /? yields nothing) to stop the REBOOT from happening ...
Anyone got a clue ?

Shawn what is wrong with the reboot? If you don't reboot then the user may not reboot in a reasonable amount of time and your client could fail because the DSClient is not active. Just inform the user to close all program before procedding and that a required reboot will happen automatically.

holy crap - what a peice of sh*t !
- thanks Howard, did not see that link in any of my STFWs ... at least I can take this information back to our Tivoli packaging guys and it will justify a package reboot - like this guy, we are really trying to reduce the number of reboots in this gigantic package we are assembling ...

There seems to be an issue with the DSCLIENT on NT4.
BUT, have you tried;
code:
DSCLIENT /Q:A /R:N
Could also be:
code:
DSCLIENT /Q:A /C:"Setup.exe" /R:N
But the parameter:
/C:
(The command to execute after unpacking)
Is normally only required if the command following:
/Q:A
(Quiet:Administrative - install)
Is NOT:
"Setup.exe"
By the way, the parameter:
/R:N
Means Reboot:NO (Not even if required)

Hi Erik, Don't think I tried that particular combination ... tried the one that they said "didn't work" in the link referenced by Howard above ... I tried it anyways because I thought maybe MS fixed something in the install package after this info was posted, here's what I tried:
dsclient.exe /r:n /c:"setup.exe /q /r:n"
it still rebooted ![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif) but unless you think otherwise, going to try your suggestions first thing in the morning ...

Erik,
Going to give that cmd a try as soon as my NT ghost restores ! For the time-being, we have pulled the DSCLIENT package from the distrib.
I just got off the phone with our packaging guys and we're considering tearing the package apart and using the "Install Sheild Repackager" to do one of those before and after snapshot type re-packaging deals... this scares the hell out of me to be honest ... its kinda like ghosting an install ... thing is, what the snapshot looks like on one machine, may not be what the snapshot looks like on another machine (even though both machines are NT4) but I don't know, guess that would depend on the package.
Looking deeper into dsclient, it doesn't seem like its doing rocket science ... just a bunch of dll copies and some regsvr32's
