Ja, i have very little experience with VPN as well. Thing is, static IP's on the wkstn would solve alot of the problems with this particular subset of wkstns here (home workers) - for some reason, I'm getting alot of push-back from other internal groups to get them static ips assigned.
And yeah, VPN assigns a virtual type ip from the VPN pool, but that doesn't help the local wkstn physical adapter to get a lease.
This whole business I am involved is much to long of a story to go into in detail, other than the desired effect that when a user logs in and gets the "unable to find DHCP server message" (because the lease expired) to simply click a desktop icon that will run a job to renew the lease while they are VPN'd - but sadly, the DHCP server ip is already set to this "bad value" prior to them logiging into VPN.
