Hi,

I am running KIX32 V4.11 on Windows 2000 domain Controllers. Anyone has any idea why the KIX dialog box does not close automatically upon completion of running the scripts. The box will juz stay at the last statement run. I noticed that this happened only on Windows XP Professional machines. This does not happen on Windows 98 machines.

Appreciate for any advice urgently.

Tks & Rgds.

This sounds familiar. Are you using a batch file? If so, post it. Are you using the RUN command in your script? If so, what are you running?

I am using script file with file extension .SCR Below is the contents in this .SCR file.

<<Begin of script>>
if ingroup("AuditWizard")
SHELL '%COMSPEC% /c \\svr1\AuditBuild\scan32.exe'

Exit
<<End of script>>

This script is required for my software Audit Wizard to audit all logon users hardware & software information.

I had similar behavior calling SMSLS.bat using RUN. The problem does not occur when using SHELL.

Comment out the SCAN32.exe and seen if the behavior changes. If it does, then we can discuss options.

Sorry I can't be more help at this time.

If this is your entire script, why use KiXtart at all. Use a batch file and see if that performs better.

I have a main script called kixtart.scr which calls many other .scr files. This auditwizard.scr file that I am encountering problem is one of the many .scr files.

Okie, I'll try to use a batch file & see if it works. I presume you are referring to calling the batch file from my kixtart.scr rt ? Forgive my ignorance as I am pretty new to Kixtart.

My comments related to my thought that this was your entire KiXtart script. But wrapping it in a batch file may change the behavior.

I tried using the batch file method but it doesn't work. Below are the script file & batch file that I have created.

In my main script KIXTART.SCR, I have the following statement:-
CALL CUSTOM.SCR

In CUSTOM.SCR, I have the following statements:-
IF INGROUP ("AuditWizard")
SHELL "AuditWizard.bat"
EXIT

In AUDITWIZARD.BAT, I have the following statements:-
%COMSPEC% /c \\fs01\AuditBuild\scan32.exe
EXIT

Somehow or rather, when it is executing the auditwizard.bat file, after finishing the scan32.exe, it will just hang there. Fyi : While performing the scan, a separate window will appear collecting all the hardware & software information & this window will close automatically. However, the KIX32 windows will just stay at the "\\fs01\AuditBuild\scan32.exe" statement.

Did I write these scripts correctly ? Appreciate any further advice or any other advice from anyone.

Tks & Rgds.

at least the shell line where you try to call the bat is wrong.
basically also the bat is wrong (even though it will work...)

http://www.kixtart.org/board/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=005585#000002

check that out.
this has been discussed many times but couldn't find many of them back.

you have 2 choises:
don't execute the audit from within kixtart script or use run.
afaik, at least it works for rocco.
