Kix32.exe hangs after logon for some of my users after logon, this occurs in my terminal services environment. It appears to have finished ok, but the process kix32.exe still remains. Any ideas?

how you check that it has finished?

do some sort of write to file in the end of script to verify that it has finished really.

I have done that, including pausing the script at the end of exeecution, and it do finish, but the process remains!(Sometimes, not always!) I'm in test mode in a new configuration so I'm keen to work it out. I'm on version 4.2.

do you call the kix exe via batch file or directly?

I'm on 4.2.

And I do call it via batch (login.bat). I've tried to narrow it down to specific users, group membership, security etc. but no luck so far, whether kix32.exe still remains as a process after logon seems random.

like asked before...
there is no such version as 4.2.

did you try the pause after the call to the kix?
so does it return to the bat after it has executed?

there might be this type of problems with wkix32.exe when used with bat, but kix32.exe is old style and thus it should work...

also check eventlog for possible error-codes

Dont meen to argue about the version, but this is what it says:
kix32 /?
KiXtart 2001 4.20 (Copyright Ruud van Velsen 2002)

Yes, I paused the login.bat, and the kix did finish. I have no idea what is going on, thanks for the tips though.

but it indeed is 4.20

k, there is one more think to ask...
do you have exit in your code?
or even quit?

and do you have executables started with run in your script?

once you have checked these, I might need to even ask you post your code [Wink]

Well i do have 'exit' now, didnt do any good. The only executable i start is a printer 'default' program.

you could try to make a debug version with MCA's KiXstrip tool: KIX-TOOL: stripping, reformatting, debugging, performance analyze kix code (kixstrip)
