Did some digging and was looking at the FAQ - Shutdown/Restart - options

Noticed - Jorgen Bosman

On his Applications Page, the PowerOff only shows a GUI to do this. However, he includes full source code too.

Thinking that there has to be a Command-line driven tool that does this did some digging and using Google [Smile] and used the search word wol.exe and found the following:

Real-World Scripting: Use WOL to Wake Up Your Machines Remotely

Found this software site - Gammadyne's Free Software

Wake On LAN

The EXE is from -
http://www.gammadyne.com/wol.exe

Downloaded and this works great!

Thanks,

Kent

See also KiXtart Systems Management Server (Part III, The Client) [a.k.a The Complete Package] , which uses WOL on the server-side. However, I'm using the utility that comes directly from AMD (also free). See AMD's Magic Packet™ Technology

Jens,

Can you post a different URL or explain where/how you say or find that it is free.

I read this on the bottom of the URL you gave, and I don't see the download link. Maybe I'm getting old and blind and just don't see the download link.

AMD licenses the Magic Packet technology to device manufacturers. If you are interested in getting licensing information, please contact Rahul Deshmukh at (408) 749-5448 or email at rahul.deshmukh@amd.com.

Yes, the technology for WOL is being licensed. However, the actual packet used to wake up a computer can be used by anybody. Download the AMD WOL Utility at http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/magic_pkt.exe
