Hello guys, haw are you all today ?
I am developing a cute form wich I am satisfied with, but this cute way of doing it needs pictures support (backrounds) and color. As Kixforms uses BMP files it gets a little slow specially when it is tested throught lan.
I dont know if this was mentioned in the last Wish-List, I am sure the topic in on the table.
Quiestion:
Do I have any other way of making it lighter rather than waiting for jpg support or not using BMP.

Thanks all again. [Wink]

Cache the BMPs in a local directory or, better, don't use BMPs unless they convey information in such a way that it makes the GUI significantly easier to use or they display information in such a way as cannot be achieved by text.

well, again you can crack those BMPs to not be separate files...
you can also use the inbuild images...

if those does not fit for ya, make a suggest for adding some really cool image.

btw, you got yourself a PM

Guys I am now sure it does give a cool image, i have been testing and powers the form a lot.
Its nice when you use a pastel backcolor mixed up with tone pictures and I have found that if you use frames and place pixtureboxes in them so as to paint it with lighter tone gives more quality, gives other feeling.
As you can see I am a little focused on this stuff couse of my study, I cannot help it.
You are right Jens, and this is not neccesary but as I said it gives quality. Cache might be.

inbuild images are the images already in kixforms.

if you want to do only background, why don't you just colorize it rather than using image?

btw, yeah... PM.

Yes, true but not with frames they are transparent, so you need to put something there so as to lower the color tone.
Let me look at home (when i get there) and show what i am talking about, i dont have the sample here. Maybe is pointless to talk without it but I think it would be intresting. Still the engine code of it is a little empty by now.

`Jose ,

Hiya ... Hmmm, I think I can answer in advance :

Jpeg support (as well as OpenGL support) is in the Longterm todo list on kixforms ... you may have to wait (as well as me 'desperately' waits) a few other releases to have it built in ...

In the mean time the strategy of copying the scripts and the bitmaps to the client could ship around your current issues [Wink]

Shawn ?

Here again...Thanks for the tips jpols IŽll study them.

This is me in real life. [Big Grin]
What i am trying to do here is to recieve support issues throught the form. Those issues are from apllications running (like bug reporter) Office, SO, CPU, Printing stuff, cartradges, tommer etc.
The Idea is to match style with logon form, I took pictures of all the crew here (a lot) and they will be in the logon form to.
Its a little ambicious for my short programming trayectory so I am gonna need a little advice furder on in Task Manager stuff, DB().. and general issues.
Actually you can browse it. The center frame answers to the left bottun commands, like a browser.
The start frame is incomplete wet and most functionalities are to come, so believe me that all my ballon barking goes somewhere [Wink] .
My idea (when its finished) is to upload it maybe the structure might fit somewhere, some spanish bomb might what it to use ass well.

I am going fordward to:
quote:
Cache the BMPs in a local directory
so I can keep up with appearence.
Thanks a lot guys.

I am happy I am feeling alive I got sunshine!!

That is supposed to be a client side app for users to report computer problems??

My first thought, is that the average user is incapable of even describing their problem, much less being able to tell if it is software or hardware related.

Maybe your are smarter than mine... [Big Grin]

I'm sure the members here can translate to dutch, german, finnish, latin, spanish... I don't know about french though... we have a number of canucks, here, but I don't know if any are frenchy. (calling a non-french canadian, frenchy... is like calling a finn a sweede, or calling a puerto-rican a cuban) some people are touchy...

I haven't noticed any french, mid-eastern, or far-eastern 'regulars' here... mostly US/Canadian, various Nordic types, British, and a German or two. Fairly international, but we could always use some more...

He Rad you are deam wright about users, maybe I can handle this with an after hour academy and the titlle of the diploma would be "Advance Master in Computigns Science" [Wink]
They are very very tuff people!! But I can make to recieve from them a particular information that I wount let them throught other normal way, I am sick running in the last minute. I want to throw them the ball in in a couple of issues.

I might be wrong in the end, but I am gonna try.
Thanks pals.
IŽll keep working.

About the language subject and different races what I like most about this forum is that we are all like equal despite distances and differences.
