What does this do?

rjhExtensions is a simple utility that will add a number of useful functions to the context menu of Windows Explorer. The utility consists of the extensions and an organizer that allows you to control the placement of the extensions.

From a scripting perspective, the two most helpful features are:

• "Copy Path to Clipboard." It has come in handy more than once when writing scripts.
  
• Duplicating files. Want to keep an original? This creates a copy quickly.
  

Here are the others:

• Path to clipboard: Copies the path of the selected folder or file to the clipboard.
  
• DOS Prompt: Selecting DOS Prompt (Command Prompt in WinNT) opens a DOS window in the selected directory.
  
• Shred File(s): Overwrites and then deletes the selected file or files. WARNING: Shredded files cannot be recovered.
  
• Rename Files: The Rename Files extension allows you to quickly and easily rename multiple files in multiple folders.
  
• Encrypt File: The Encrypt/Decrypt extension allows you to easily encrypt and then decrypt any file using a modified version of the powerful Blowfish encryption algorithm.
  
• Duplicate File(s): Creates a copy of the selected file or files in the same directory. The duplicate files will maintain the properties of the original.
  
• Copy directory list to file: Creates a text file containing the names and, optionally, the details of all files in the selected directory and, optionally, subdirectories.
  
• Print directory list: Prints a list of the names and, optionally, the details of all files in the selected directory and, optionally, subdirectories.
  
• rjhExtensions Organizer: The organizer is a small application that allows you to select which extensions will appear on the context menu, whether the extension will be on the main context menu or a submenu and the order in which the extensions will appear on the menu.

Anybody give this a shot? It is pretty cool.

Do people like suggestions like this? Do we need to suggest to Lon/Henri create a new Forum for suggestions, cool tips, ideas, etc.?

I (personally) like these little tips and tricks. This board has never stood on formality and when you really think about it - it's hard to seperate KiXtart scripting from Windows and Network administration...

But your right - it would be nice to have another potluck forum here called Windows Admin or something - there's so much talent on this board and it's growing daily...

Anyone have any other thoughts on a POTLUCK windows forum - I know - it's a tough call...

Then again, simply stating 'OFF-TOPIC' or 'NON-KIX' in the header or first line works for me too. Also, speaking about topic creep, maybe some ground rules on topic 'creep' are in order. How far permissible to go off topic in a thread before a new thread should be started (i.e. this post)?

I agree.. Personally, I would not want to see non-relevant stuff to the world of 'puters and/or KIX creep up here.

I know that what I contributed for "tricks" aren not necessarily tricks, but software. However, I tend to be a freeware junkie.

We agree with you. Sometimes kixtart can do it, but it can also run
too slow. Nice example of the past was "stripping your kixtart code
by a kixtart script".
Sometimes we need additional tools/programs to do the job. Nice
example was:
"how can we make our kixtart code secure"
For us works also a keyword like 'OFF-TOPIC' or'NON-KIX' fine.
