Some of my co-workers and I were chatting the other day, reminiscing and talking trivia about Windows 3.x and Windown 95 etc. The following trivia bit came up and no-one could answer it (we all vaguely remember it though) ... thought maybe kixters may remember ...

I think it was Windows 95 but one of the early versions shipped with a "free" music video by a group, with a young girl lead singer. The song was quite good - the video had shots of every-day people in some big city in the USA there ... was one of the first video's I remember playing on Windows Media player in fact ...

Anyone remember that video or even better, able to find a link to it ? We're not having much luck.

-Shawn

Had no idea WTF you guys were talking about until I watched the video.
Guess I had that stashed away in some dark corner but it all came back when I watched the video.

The artist was Edie Brickell, the album was "Picture Perfect Morning". The track is called "Good Times" - track 4 on the album.

I remember that because I was in Seattle the week after the W95 release, teaching a Unix class. I can remember walking into a music store after class and singing it (badly) to the clerk to figure out the artist and album. Still have the CD that I bought that day. (and YES, it was a CD, not a Vinyl album!) ;\)

Kent,

Your link does not work for me. Some message about this video not being available in my country due to copyright issues. Or maybe it's because I'm in a hotel in German now and youtube has some issues with that.

Weezer's 5 minutes of fame can be found here.

You mean "one-hit wonders" like:

Donnie Iris and Ah Leah

Or Gary Wright and Dream Weaver

I think you're either having redirect issues or you're maybe in a Country that blocks certain URLs, both work fine for me.

ah, those were the days. When gigantic pixels lagged with slappy sound - and they called it high-res video....

I recall an ad back in 1977 for a "hi-res" video card. 320x256 pixels in 16 colors. They had a bottle of Hires root beer in the ad, something like "hi-res. not Hires!" was the tagline.

Ya wanna talk about gigantic pixels?? ;\)

Strangly, only a year later, a company introduced a video board with something like 2048x1024 resolution in 8 colors, and up to 8 boards could be combined in a system to create overlays. Of course, in those days, your system backplane had up to 24 slots. One application was laying down a map, then roads, then weather symbols, then traffic symbols.. pretty advanced stuff for the 1970's.
