Billbob Billbob Lurker Registered: 2002-03-26 Posts: 1	Hi all, Just had an "expert" come in and set up Kixtart on my NT4 domain. After finishing he informs me that I have to add domain users to the local admins group of all NT4/W2K machines in order of the IE patches which are installed via the script to work. For security reasons I'd rather not do this. Being new to this scripting environment I am happy to be pointed to the appropiate doc etc. No need to explain in detail unless you feel inclined or it's easy. Regs Bill Bob

BrianTX BrianTX Korg Regular Registered: 2002-04-01 Posts: 895	I hate the idea of running SU because of the security risk involved. However, if this turns out to be an easier way than other alternatives, would it be slightly more secure to copy locally and run an install package created with iexpress with the administrator password embedded? I have yet to find a program that can "unzip" iexpress packages, but I may not have looked hard enough... Any thoughts on this? BrianTX

Sealeopard Sealeopard KiX Master Registered: 2001-04-25 Posts: 11165 Loc: Boston, MA, USA	I am running a script on the server which schedules installations via Task Scheduler. The administrative password is embedded in the server-side script and only Administrators have access to the script, so the password shoudl be fairly secure. The client-side task Scheduler executes the actual Kixtart script which takes care of the installation.
