I'm a Net Admin that has about 4000 users/3000 nodes on our network and am familiar with HTML, PHP, and MySQL and wanted to use KiXtart to get some hardware information from computers. I've read the KiXtart manual but was wondering if there was any other good documentation to read on the inherent functions that come with KiXtart??? My end goal will be to pull a large set of information from clients when they log into the domain and retain that information into a MySQL database and then write a PHP front-end to query the information for those machines. The last two parts will be easy, I just need a to read a little more on how KiXtart works. Anyone know of any good documenation or books to read???

Hello and Welcome to the board.

KiXtart is quite easy to learn and use. Here is some information I hope you find helpful.

Also don't forget to look at the FAQ Contents page here on the board for some useful information.

That is a great script NTDOC. It has a lot of great information. Have you or has anyone ported this script to write to a database of any kind? If not, do you have any examples of writing to a database that I might use as a jump off point. I'm just a noob at KiXtart.

A few people have either done it, or attempted to do it. Do some searches and you should come up with some more hits on it for database.

There are UDFs to handle a lot of the work involved with Databases too.

See for example DBCommand() - Executes a SQL statement and returns a recordset if applicable

IMHO once you have the basics down from the manual, the true power of Kix comes out in the wonderful collection of UDF's and, what I'm getting into more and more, its COM abilities.

Not to mention you can search the forum here and most likely find the answer to your questions. They're very helpful to newbies and I've even improved my coding technique immensely from their examples (thanks Les)
