Benchmark testing live CD

What's a good easy to use live CD benchmark testing tool? I have a lot of aging HP computers where the caps on the MB are swelling and leaking and one of the symptoms is that it's really slow. Obviously I can pop the cover and look at the caps, but not every computer with bad caps are slowing down and there can be other reasons for the performance issue. I don't want to install any software into Windows XP and would rather leave the installed OS out of the mix.

I was hoping for something that someone could boot from a USB stick and use with ease.

hmm... don't remember the one I used when I needed something like that.
lately it's just been "buy a new one, it's cheaper than testing" \:D

I was hoping for something purpose build that anyone could use just by following their nose. Something like the BitDefender rescue CD.

Re: Benchmark testing live CD

get an usb stick, install ubcd on it with:
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

and boot into menu that is fairly simple to navigate with arrow keys.
there might not be that many mobo tools but at least cpu tools and if there is an issue, these linux based tools can even crash loading so you know something is definitely wrong ;\)

Ja, I boot Reatogo from a USB stick and if it is really slow to boot up or it crashes, the computer goes to the ewaste bin.

and you can compare with 3Dbench that comes with UBCD to these values: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=26175

haven't really tested that, so again, you are free to experiment ;\)

Re: Benchmark testing live CD

I'll have to give yumi a try. Been using PEtoUSB to put Reatogo onto a stick but it is limited to using 2 gig or smaller sticks and I can't find sticks smaller than 4 gig these days.

Looks like I could use yumi to consolidate several of my different USB boot sticks into one. Does yumi support 4 gig sticks?
