BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

Jooel,

Is this still Beta? [Smile]

I am going to assume so since it is in RC phase.

Thought it is time to start a new thread.

Kind Regards,

Kent

kent, you are rushing too much.
I'm just heading home and will release it before leaving for vacation.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

boys, one thing that does not get into to release but at least on all systems I've used this, slider steals the focus from the current app.
it also pulls the main checker window on top.

so does it this for you too?
and patrick, you have your own slider, does it work differently?

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

adjusted yours with some tips from Chris S. (if I remember correctly)
Doesn't steel focus, gets checker to foreground only if checker is visible (not minimized on taskbar)

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

but that is the bad.
if I don't minimize checker when opening new window, it is behind and will pop up when slider comes.
and also stays there!

so, I'll have to do something for that...

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

Slider just crashed in RC2. same thing except now it shows 30 on the console.

Trying to figuer out some of the other behaviour.
I thought you made a change in one of the betas to not minimize when launching from history. It's back to minimizing.

If you click on the slider, it recycles the IE window, that is , it doesn't open a new one. Has this changed from previous beta?

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

no, slider has done that from... 1.1
the crash mostlikely is just the event stuff crashing.
dunno what causes it, memoryleak?

anyway, I'll remove the slider from the mainprocess in next update after 1.5
this way it crashing will not crash anything else.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

What about the minimize and the reusing of the same window.

reusing:

minimize?
checked to the file and yes, forgot to remove the min from "show topic" button.
elsewhere there is no min.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

OK

So what do you call the hyperlink in the grey area, the one I call topmost? It too, seems to reuse the current window rather than open a new one. Did it always do that?

Sorry about all the questions. I usually run BBChecker at home when the board is quieter and never noticed this before.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

you had the older checker before (like you also had older kixforms) or...
anyway, I did sometime ago the udf formlink() which did the linking in bbchecker.
that opened new window.
the hyperlink used currently is the inbuild hyperlink which always opens in the same window.

so, don't know what to do with this.
there is no way to control this, unless I start using my own udf again and control the usage by setfocus and stuff...

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

The problem I run into is that if I'm in the middle of reading or writing a post and a new post comes along, when I click it, I loose the screen I was on.

If I wany to keep the current session and spawn a new window then I need to launch it from history. Only prob is, the history window is behind the current one. The topmost hyperlink is closer to the taskbar but that one will blow away my current session. Maybe if the history list grew upward, with the newest at the bottom instead of the top, I chould just click it there without having to move the active window first.

HEY! weird... as I was typing this a notification beeped and my keystrokes killed the checker.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

les, tell you what.
go to http://www.gwspikval.com/jooel/scripts/bbChecker/sources/current/
and get new slider and bbchecker from there.
they are to be release if I just get the package done.
there are "issues" with those too but they go beyond the 1.5.0

it shouldn't crash after that.
can't be sure but will make the .0 package today anyway as will go in 12 hours to 1,5 week vacation.
the parser, will be changed, as you will see from the todos.txt...
tried it before and it wasn't as easy as in previous versions.

anyway, still the crash that now came is about the slider and it must be dealt with and will be too...
but, as maybe someone has seen it already, I'm human.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

Jooel,
Not faulting you for being human...

I had already disabled the slider before I had the last crash that looks like my keystrokes may have caused. May be pure coincidence...

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

Yeah it did but I was typing with my head down and just caught a glimpse of it before the enter key dismissed it. I'll watch for it and if it happens again, try to catch it.

Re: BBChecker - 1.5 RC-2 (Beta)

you can also try with the new.
is has someone improvements in calling the pages and it should better handle the "error" situations...
