@PRODUCTTYPE Enhancement request

If this has already been reported, please forgive the repost. I'm running 4.51 on a Vista build 5308 client, and @producttype reports "Windows 2000 Professional". Is this fixed in 4.52 or will it be?

[Title changed to reflect not a bug, but a request for enhancement by NTDOC]

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Moving to General discussions. If after testing with 4.52 it is still an issue repost to beta.

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Sorry for posting in the wrong place. I just downloaded 4.52 beta 2 and tested. Same result. Any chance this will be addressed in 4.52 or it too trivial at this point?

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Think we should move this back to beta.. as it soon will be an Issue

[Oh btw. this is not so a bug but maybe more a lack of functionality]

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

I would tend to agree that it could be considered an enhancement request, more than a bug. Hard to call it a bug when it relates to an entirely separate product which is still in beta. I'm sure I can UDF my way around it, so it's not catastrophic.

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Wouldn't there be a standard api call for such a query against the OS? I would have thought that Ruud would get the OS to tell him what the OS is, rather than figure it out by another method? Anyway, I'm sure Ruud has a well thought out methodolgy in that area.

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Just to let you know that part of this is addressed in the next build. Believe it or not, but it actually is quite hard to determine the right OS version. XP or Vista is easy, but XP Tablet PC Edition or Vista Home Starter Edition is another thing.

Anyway, I'm working on it. At least the incorrect Win2000 value is fixed in the next build.

Re: @PRODUCTTYPE bug?

Ruud,

time to say thank you again I think.
Not solely for fixing/enhancing @producttype, more for the effort you put in the development of this wonderful thing you did over the last, hmmm, was it 15 years?

A big thumbs up from my side anyway
