This was not originally found by me, but was posted over at http://www.scriptlogic.com . http://www.scriptlogic.com/support/forums/display_message.asp?mid=4128 code:Results are under 4.02"break on cls quote:4.10 RC2: quote:And.. Under 4.01 final: quote:Thanks, Kent |

I can confirm these problems under Windows 2000, too. Therefore, I would recommend not to use version 4.10 since there might be other things broken since 4.10RC2. |

DITTO... Same here. Appears to start to pull information from local computer instead of Logon server. BUMMER !! I wanted to roll it out this week and start to use some of the new items. [ 08 July 2002, 18:40: Message edited by: NTDOC ] |

I was just getting ready to post on this. Good thing I did a search before I did. |

They do seem to work if run during the logon process. Well, at least @fullname and @lserver anyway. |

Dear, We read it too late. We have already update our site with the latest release. Scriptlogic topic reports problems with the macro's - @LServer - @FullName - @Comment - @PrimaryGroup For those we need the previous one use the temporary links kix410.95-registry.exe kix410.95-update.exe wkix410.95-update.exe We love the kixtart 4.10 build 95 too. greetings. |

Just received the following from Ruud: quote:Unfortunately, the updated file received from Ruud is also labeled v4.10 (which should do well to confuse those who already downloaded this morning's previous 4.10 release). Anyway, I've asked the webmaster over at www.scriptlogic.com to rename the download to kix2001_410a.zip (append an "a"). If those of you that maintain mirrors agree that this is a good idea, will you rename the file before publishing? -Brian |

Dear Ruud, Great job and thanks. We will put within 30 minutes all updates (kix410.zip + iexpress packages) on our site. Above temporary links will keep also on the site. greetings. |

Right, 99 is the latest 'fixed' build, but it doesn't mention that in the filename (zip), nor the readme.txt contained in the zip, nor the documentation. I'm simply proposing that any web sites that host the zip for downloading, rename it from kix2001_410.zip to kix2001_410a.zip to avoid confusion. Of course, if this was a Microsoft product, it would now be called "KiXtart 4.10 Second Edition." -Brian |

Seems to be more than just a few macros. The following is a list of the output of all KiX 4.10 macros run under 4.02... code:Next, a list of all 4.10 macros from command prompt (e.g. NOT during logon)...Address: 00B0D06C5487 code:The following is the difference between the two sets of output (excluding time related macros and functions not supported under 4.02)...Address: 00B0D06C5487 code:COMMENT: |

Dear Chris, Was this the test with the latest build 99? Please download it from our site and try it again. greetings. |

build 99 seems to be fine now. |

Dear MCA, No, the test was with build 98. It took me so long to edit and double-check my post you guys had already fixed it. And, yes, I verified with build 99. Works as advertised. [ 09 July 2002, 01:19: Message edited by: Chris S. ] |

Good info for Ruud. Thanks. greetings. |

Brian... just an FYI... ScriptLogic site says the details can be found in the Development Status Report but I don't see any reference to the build 99 changes. It simply states a "re-release" a minor write up of fixes would round out the report better if/when you guys get a chance. Thanks for all the support... |

Dear NTDOC, When you take a close look at the main page http://www.scriptlogic.com/kixtart/ which describes the reason about the emergency release. For us it works fine. No new problems will result in upgrading our production environments. For us it solves a "strange" error situation in a dynamic ip-addressing environment (see another topic on beta forum for it). greetings. |

NTDOC, I think the reason we haven't posted anything special in the Dev Report is simply because we have not been provided any detail (other than 'all problems are magically fixed in build 99.' ) I think the decision is to leave only facts in the Dev Report and since nobody knows exactly what was fixed, there is a general statement on the main KRC welcome page. As always, we're open to any an all suggestions... Cheers, Brian |

Dear NTDOC, Your BUMMER !! I wanted to roll it out this week and start to use some of the new items. is gone. Ruud's latest reaction solves lastest obstacle. Latest build 99 works without any problem in our environment. Tonight we are going in production with it. Good luck, greetings. [ 09 July 2002, 08:00: Message edited by: MCA ] |

MCA... Well I want to soon!, but now I'm a little "Gun Shy" and will probably wait a little bit longer to verify no other odd problems arise. I don't have control over the AD like I do on our own NT 4.0 Domain, so I have to rely on others to copy the files and updates for me. Would dislike having to ask for their help if another problem stuck out its ugly head. Thanks to everyone for the quick replies and updates on all this stuff. |
||||||||

I'll probably wait for about another couple of weeks yet, for the real oddball issues to be discovered. Then I'll go through my scripts to see where code could be optimized to use the new features, then after sufficient testing, I get to pass it along to my know-nothing network managers for their headscratching, open mouthed review, and then I can see if we'll deploy it. Of course, we'll deploy a Windows SP the moment Bill releases it. |

I deployed KiXtart 4.10a yesterday afternoon. Things are working fine here. (Single domain, ~500 clients, Win2K/NT only, no AD.) I had to modify the logon script because I used the MakePath() function on the ScriptLogic function board in the script. It is incompatible with KiXtart 4.10 because it uses a Join UDF that is slightly different from the new internal Join function. I've posted a comment for the author in that forum. Rather than re-invent the wheel, I got the MakePath() UDF from this board, translated it to my style and removed the Join() UDF from the script. Woiks like a chaaam, it does. New Mexico Mark |

Dear, Good news and also a good point that as user you must verify which UDFs becomes an internal kixtart function. We are running now also without any problem. It is a mix of W95/ME/NT/W2K/XP clients and NT/W2K servers with different languages (German, English & Dutch) on the clients installed greetings. |
