Event Log Management/Archiving

I've been after a utility for a while that would allow me to automatically archive and clear the logs on my NT and Windows 2000 servers. After searching around on the web and not finding any utility to do what I wanted, I decided to do it myself in Kixtart. It was pretty simple. If you're looking to do the same thing, please feel free to download my script from http://www.servercentrix.com/support/downloads/log_archiver.zip

Hope this helps someone out.

Matt

Re: Event Log Management/Archiving

You should also check out eventlog tool offerings from http://www.systemtools.com/ and http://www.aelita.com/

See also for example this thread: backupeventlog - access denied on win2k member server

Also, be aware that BACKUPEVENTLOG shoudl only write to the local harddrive and not to a network location in a properly configured system.

Matt,

as you can see in the thread mentioned by Jens I too use kix to do some archiving and clearing eventlogs with Kix.
