Disabling Offline Files

By default when you redirect a folder Offline Folders is enabled in XP. I want to disable the the "Enable Offline Files" feature. I can grey it out and remove the tab but I can't actually untick the box. Any ideas ?

Cheers,

BTW, I want to do this with Kix not a GPO.

hmm...
at least you can do it by removing mobsync.exe (not 100% sure of name...) from the system.
the initial startup will be in registry run-key.
check the localmachine and currentuser.

don't have XP to try here but do some googling:
mobsync.exe disable xp

k?

Re: Disabling Offline Files

Dear,

There should be a registry key. The link Troubleshooting Files and Folders Management shows following info
quote:

KeyName: Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NetCache
ValueName: Enabled
ValueType: REG_SZ
Value:

Mostly www.winguides.com shows some interesting things. Now we
found only Change the Offline Files Synchronization Method (Windows 2000/XP) as registry
issue.

something on their forum
quote:

I have disabled offline files using the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache\Enabled: 0x00000000

However this is on WinXP Pro and I am not sure if it will work on 2k.

Good luck.

greetings.
