New to Scripting - any help out there?

Hi - I've completely new to scripting & need to write something basic to enable users to log onto several mapped drives, dependant on group membership etc. Can anyone give me an introduction to Kix other that the v4 manual on this site. Something that can take me right from the beginning?? Any help gratefully accepted.
