Search the board for Windows 7 and/or provide more info. Also see http://www.kixtart.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=26424&Number=195765 FYI... mapping works under Win 7 fine. |

Agreed - our environment is a mix of XP, Vista, and Windows 7 workstations and we have no problem with Kix-based login scripts on any of the platforms. There are known issues with Windows 2000 AD, as have been discussed on the board. Glenn |

What more info do you need.? |

When adding this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System EnableLinkedConnections =(dword)1 should solve my problem. |

This is unrelated to Kix and an unsupported configuration. Are you testing via RunAs and expecting to see the connections in other windows? The registry hack you reference will associate multiple security tokens together, so that drives mapped with one token will be visible to sessions with a different token (such as your primary login ID and a RunAs session). Glenn, This is the same fix that I posted in the reference thread above. If you are using a GPO script and the UAC, you don't have much choice other than to use this. |

I hear you... but - GPOs run the script in a different token space, and the only way to get mapped drives on a MS Windows 7 or VISTA platform with UAC is to employ a hack that Microsoft won't support? (We reviewed this with our TAM a few months back and learned it was an "unsupported configuration", which is why we still use a login script for mapping resources, and logon scripts for other, specialized tasks.) I would think that a more supportable fix would be to run standard login scripts instead of GPO Logon scripts for drive mapping, which run in the current user context. Otherwise, if you have a problem, you either need to change to login scripts to get support, or lie to your MS tech. It still isn't directly a Kix issue (although I'm not such a "purist" that I'd be against discussing it..) Maybe it's too many years in enterprise environments, but this kind of thing makes me cringe. Glenn |

Not supported huh... wow. I'm pretty sure I found that reg setting on a MS website. I guess that is not surprising. I wonder what they think about me disabling that damn UAC? |

Yup... you are right... Quote: Important This workaround may make your system unsafe. Microsoft does not support this workaround. Use this workaround at your own risk. After you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista, programs may be unable to access some network locations http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937624 |
||||||||

|

Well, of course it is potentially unsafe - it links two different account tokens together! Now you can't tell which account has control of a resource. This setting certainly would not be acceptable in an environment subject to SOX, HIPAA, PCI, or similar security requirements. Glenn |

Ok, I added HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System EnableLinkedConnections =(dword)1 and i got mapped drives,but none off my printers where added. How can this be solved.? |
