Hi,
We are using a dot matrix printer in our office. I have installed the printer using "AddPrinterConnection" on all the machines when they login. By default, the paper size is "Letter" and the paper quality is "360 X 360". I would like to change these settings to "German Std Fanfold" and "180 X 180".
At present, I am using a rather crude method (IMHO) of using Sendkeys function to open the printer properties to set the parameters I want. As this tends to open up the windows after the user has logged in, I would like to do this in an invisible mode ( if possible ). I have checked the registry to see if any particular registry can be modified to reflect the changes but have not been able to do so.
Any help in setting this would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. The printer is Epson LQ 1070+ Esc P/2.
Regards

Hi jpols,
Are you talking about setting the default printer settings on the server which is acting as my print server ? If so, I have already tried it out and it does not work..
If that is not what you meant, request you to kindly elaborate some more so that I can try it out.

Hi Lonkero,
I have checked on both my local machine and the print server but the subkey value that you have mentioned ( 'devmode' ) does not exist on either of them.
Q : Are you getting the change in value when you try with a dot-matrix ( I don't know if it makes a difference ).
Jens : When the dot-matrix printer setting did not work, I tried setting the properties for a HP LaserJet 6L printer on the print server but even this change did not get reflected when I installed the printer again on my machine.
My current setup is like this : I have a Linksys 3 port print server which has the printers connected to it. I have installed these printers on the Win2K server and have shared these printers as P1, P2 and P3. These shared printers are being installed using "AddPrinterConnection" in my script.
Any further ideas would be appreciated.
Regards

Hi Jens,
I re-installed the LaserJet printer on the Win2K server & changed the settings. But, when I installed it manually on my local machine, it did not change my locally installed printer settings.
BTW, I assume you were referring to the Win2K server when you mentioned the print server.
