As a new user I am doing pretty well with your help. I can get my network logon script to work on win 2000 desktops but not on Win 9X. I keep getting bits and pieces on this topic but I'm lost on how to truly implement these operating systems. Help.

What about your logon script is not executing on Win9x computers?
The more info the better. A code sample is always good. [ 03 July 2002, 18:34: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

What you have listed is not valid code. What version of KiXtart are you using? Using 4.02?
"Start" is not a valid KiXtart command.
Your messagebox command should look more like this: $x = MessageBox("An error occurred.","Script Error",4160, 30)
You need quotes around your path in your USE statement.
Have you deployed the KiXtart Win9x support DLLs? Use H: "\\shared\@userid"
End is not a valid KiXtart command. [ 29 June 2002, 01:18: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

Sorry Console (maximize)
Messagebox ("confidential","confidential agreement", "0,16,0,0", "20")
use H: "\\ntservername\users\@userid"
Does that help?

Your messagebox command is not properly formed. See my example. The third and forth parameters are integers.
You still haven't said how your script is failing on Win9x computers.

OK thanks on messagebox command, I'll fix it.
On Win 9x users I don't get any logon box period. I'm confused on how 9x works and how to set it up.

Have you configured the Win9x client to logon to a domain? Network->properties->client for ms networks->properties I think.

Yes the system is on the network. My confidentiality message box does not show.
No mapped drives show up either.

Please give some details of how you implemented the script. What is in the account logon script property? Are you using a batch file to call Kix32 and your script? Please post. Does the black DOS window show up whan the logon script starts or doesn't that show up either? [ 03 July 2002, 18:35: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

I sorry for not posting earlier. But, I worked out the problem. I guess I thought it was more difficult that it was. I set up a script1.bat logon script (right out of the book) which calls the script1.kix (which I copied from my original gen.kix script). It all worked and now my 9x users are included. Thanks to all!

yes, the KISS principle states that if the printed version of your script is longer then Gene Simmons' fully extended tongue, then its too big and complicated and should be re-worked. Just for the record.
