Hi All

I'm new to Kixtart and am trying to get my user login script to run by setting it up under Group Policy\User config\user setting\scripts. I'm running Win2k server and Win2k Pro workstations The script works fine if I assign it at the user profile level but I can't get it to run from Group Policy. It just gets ignired. Any ideas?
Also, how can I force the login script box with all the user info to retain focus until the script has completed?

Rod,
Welcome to the board. There is a GPO setting for RunLogonScriptsSync that will make your script visible and hold the desktop until the script completes. Alternatively you could hack it into the reg but if you're running AD and GPOs then why bother. Once your scripts run sync, you can influence the console with the SetConsole() function. Options are:
SHOW - Show window
HIDE - Hide window
FOREGROUND - Move window to foreground
ALWAYSONTOP - Bring window to top
MINIMIZE - Minimize window
MAXIMIZE - Maximize window

For the AD GPO script, check out this thread

Win 98 & AD Policy Scripts

Les

Thanks for your help. All my workstations are Win2K machines butt I did look at the Win98 & AD Policy link. I have tried putting the script in the netlogon directory, also in the sysvol\domain\guid\user\login which is the default directory for the PO. I've put Kix32.exe in there as well. Nothing appears to work.

What is the file extension for the entry in the lgoin script part of the GP? I use batch files to call the Kix scripts and it works fine.

I have tried calling the script directly:
kix32.exe logon.kix

and also from a batch file - logon.bat:
%0\..\kix32.exe %0\..\logon.kix

Am I missing something here?

Hi All

For anyone having the same problem, I figured it out. Maybe this is obvious to some but it wasn't to me. Hope this helps:

1. The batch file calling the logon script needs to be in the GUID logon script directory - \winnt\sysvol\sysvol\domain\policies\GUID\scripts\logon. This is a simple batch file with: Kix32.exe logon.kix. Now I would have thought the logon.kix would go in this directory too. Not so, it goes in \winnt\sysvol\sysvol\policies\scripts
2. I also needed to enable two other setting in GPO. GPO,user config, system, logon/logoff - here enable RunLogonScriptSync and RunLogonScriptVisible.
