The Active Directory Services software client has been installed.
I don't get the Site name when I use @Site with a Windows 98 Computer.
Does @Site work with Windows 98?

Hello Marcus

This is a guess on my part. I would think that no it does not work becuase a Windows 9x box can not become a member of any Domain.

i.e if you had multiple Domains and a logon account on each, you could change the name of the Domain on the logon screen and it would log on.

NT/2000/XP/2003 can be members of a Domain so they would show the @SITE macro.

That makes sense.
What I am really trying to do is:
I have multiple sites (1 for each physical location) and I have created an ou for each location and created the users for each location in the appropriate ou. I want to run a script based on the ou that the user is in.
The clients are mostly XP, 2000, and Win98.
Any ideas?

There are UDFs posted that would tell you what OU a computer is in but since wintendos do not haved computer accounts, they will not work. If it is the user's OU you want, that would be easy enough and I suspect there are UDFs posted that would tell you.

No UDF needed.

Simply modify the users logon script for each OU to run what script you want them to run.

If you have to. Place all the users in the specific OU into a new Group (MyNewOU) and do an If InGroup call

If InGroup(MyNewOU)
Run my new code...
EndIf

One could parse the OU out of the DN returned by Howard's TranslateName() UDF. You could also use the InCOntainer() UDF to test if the user is in a particular container.

Code:
Break On

call 'C:\KiXScripts\UDF\TranslateName.udf'
$DN = TranslateName (3, '', 3, '@LDomain\@userid', 1)
'OU = ' + Split($DN[0],',OU=')[1] ?
'Error = ' + $DN[1] ?
'ErrorText = ' + $DN[2] ?

This assumes that OUs are nested at least two deep.
